History

April, 1925 Hiroshi Kijima founded Kijima cord mill under personal management.
Started the production of telephone cords & electric wires for communication device.
April, 1948 Changed the company name to Kijima Communications Wire Co., Ltd.
Started delivery of telephone cord and wire for switching boards to Ministry of Communications (existing Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp.).
April, 1949 Started delivery of jumpers and indoor cables to the Ministry of Communications.
December, 1969 Acquired the certification of producing electric wires meeting the CSA standard and UL standard.
March, 1970 Acquired the certification of producing heat-resistant vinyl electric wires meeting Mistly of Defense standard.
November, 1972 Hiroshi Kijima was awarded by KYOKUJITUSOKOU award.
February, 1977 Started the mass production of electric wires insulated with fluoric resin.
In cooperation with Hitachi Cable Ltd., Developed various cables using the special conductors for robots.
June, 1979 Hiroshi Kijima took office as a chairman and Kousuke Kijima as a president.
March, 1983 In cooperation with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Cooperation, Developed UTP for digital communication and started mass production.
July, 1985 Developed a cable for ISDN (Integrated services Digital Network).
December, 1988 Developed armored cords for the public telephone of NTT.
April, 1991 Built new factory in Itakura town area of Gunma prefecture and improved the process of cord assembly.
November, 1992 Developed “the Category 5” UTP for 100 MHz in cooperation with NTT.
November, 1994 Developed “the cat5e patch cord” for 100MHz, in cooperation with NTT.
April, 1995 In cooperation with NTT developed the cord which was termination by the modular plug with the key specified by ISO/IEC 10173 standard for ISDN1500.
June, 1997 Acquired the certification of international standard ISO 9001.
January, 1998 Acquired the certification of NQAS (New Quality Assurance System) of NTT.
February, 1998 Started producing the UTP for “Gigabit Ethernet LAN”.
July, 1998 Extended Itakura factory and had done mass production of cables.
April, 2000 Kousuke Kijima (Hiroshi’s son) was awarded KYOKUJITSUSOKOU award.
September. 2000 Acquired the certification of ISO 14001. (The environmental international standard)
April, 2001 Developed “the eco-electric wires” insulated with halogen-free materials.
June, 2002 Acquired the certification of ISO 9001:2000 standard.
April, 2003 Started a structure design of the electronic equipment and assembling.
June, 2005 Kosuke Kijima took office as a chairman and Eiichi Kijima as a president.
September, 2005 Acquired the certification of ISO 1400:2004 standard.
November, 2009 Transferred the indoor cable production equipment to Itakura factory form Tokyo main factory.
May, 2010 Acquired the certification of ISO 9001:2008 standard.
June, 2013 Built new factory on the Itakura factory yard and transferred all production equipments from Tokyo main factory.
April, 2015 Celebrated 90th Anniversary.
February, 2017 Temporary relocated head office to Nakameguro for the redevelopment project.
June, 2018 Acquired the certification of ISO 9001:2015 standard, and ISO 14001:2015 standard.
February, 2019 Relocated head office to Aobadai with completion of the redevelopment project.

Itakura factory is located along the national Route354 in Gunma Prefecture. And you can find the Itakura town at east-south end of Gunma Prefecture.
